If you follow our social media you may have noticed our staff have been doing a lot of exercise recently and all of it in aid of charity! Here is a summary so far….

Our cashier Rachel Holloway recently completed the Race to the Stones, a 100k walk raising funds for Sport Relief. Between her and Kate (her walking partner) they raised and herself more than £1,000. Rachel says there were several thousand people taking part in this event and she thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, so much so that she is possibly looking at competing again next year!

Congratulations to Ben Williams, our Finance Apprentice, who ran in last week’s Cardiff ‘s half marathon in a time of just under two hours. He is pictured here with his mum who ran too!

Sally Spuffard, our Catering Services Coordinator has just completed the Trek26 Brecon Beacons walk for the Alzheimer’s Society, a 26 mile walk over Pen-y-fan (going up Jacobs Ladder on the north side of the mountain which was “really difficult” and she’s “not doing that ever again”!) and then around Talybont Reservoir.  Sally says it was absolutely stunning scenery and she and her friend Fiona and raised more than £1,000 to help fight dementia and give support for those suffering from it.

She adds: “There were just under 900 people who took part, about 490 for the 26 mile walk and then 400 for the 13 mile walk and together all the walkers have raised over £225,000 just on this one event alone, which is absolutely amazing. This was the first ever Trek26 walk and it was really well organised.  The event team were amazing and we met some fantastic people along the way, all of who helped each other.”
