Salary: £19,317 per annum (£9.50 p/h and with weekend enhancements)

Due to our rapid growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our campus team on our Hinkley Point C contract, based primarily at Sedgemoor Campus, which provides accommodation for many of the teams working on the construction of the project. Our campus hospitality operation is comprised of bar, kitchen and restaurant staff.  Our Chef Managers and Front of House Managers ensure each aspect of our hospitality and catering service is consistently delivered to a high standard.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will be a key member of the back of house team, ensuring the Chefs have the support they need to create delicious meals in good time and to a high standard.

You’ll assist with food preparation, so some previous experience of handling food or preparing food in a restaurant environment would be incredibly valuable in this role, as you’ll also assist with storing raw materials in their correct locations.

Alongside this, you’ll help keep the kitchen clean and tidy, cleaning equipment, crockery and cutlery to an extremely high standard, so you’ll need to have a conscientious and adaptable attitude towards your working day.

This is a really exciting opportunity, and we will develop your career with us.  You will find yourself working any five days out of seven, on a combination of early and late shifts.  We plan our rotas fairly, so we rotate all our staff across weekends, earlies and lates.

  • A good understanding of health and safety issues
  • A positive can-do approach
  • An adaptable nature, flexible to changes and new practices
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Some experience of food preparation/storage
  • A flexible approach to shift patterns

Successful applicants will be required to provide a three-year employment history and five-year address history in order to work on Hinkley Point C and must be able to evidence their right to work in the UK so that security clearance can be obtained as these roles are based on a nuclear regulated site.
