Due to our rapid growth, we have a fantastic opportunity for a Kitchen Porter to join our Catering team on our Hinkley Point C contract, based at Hinkley Point C. To learn more about our partnership with Hinkley Point C, please click here.
Hinkley Point C is a large-scale construction project, with thousands of employees clocking in and out every day and night. It’s also high security, meaning you’ll get an extra hour of pay each day when you take the private HPC bus to and from the site. Our Catering team work hard and take pride in what they do, creating thousands of meals a day using fresh produce prepared and delivered daily from our Central Production Kitchen in North Petherton. From our Kitchen Assistants to our Chef Managers – everyone receives professional training and support to ensure our standards of hygiene, quality and presentation are always high, especially when working in such a fast-paced environment.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Reporting to the Chef Manager, you will be a key member of the back of house team, ensuring the Chefs have the support they need each day to create thousands of meals to an exceptional quality standard.
You’ll assist with food preparation, so some previous experience of handling food or preparing food in a restaurant environment would be incredibly valuable in this role, as you’ll also assist with storing raw materials in their correct locations.
Alongside this, you’ll help keep the kitchen clean and tidy, cleaning equipment, crockery and cutlery to an extremely high standard, so you’ll need to have a conscientious and adaptable attitude towards your working day.
This is a really exciting opportunity, and we will develop your career with us. You will find yourself working any five days out of seven, on a combination of early and late shifts. We plan our rotas fairly, so we rotate all our staff across weekends, earlies and lates.

- A good understanding of health and safety issues
- A positive can-do approach
- An adaptable nature, flexible to changes and new practices
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Some experience of food preparation/storage
- A flexible approach to shift patterns
