Full Time: 39 hours per week on a variable shift pattern

Salary: £19,317 per annum (with additional weekend enhancements)

Due to our rapid growth, we have exciting opportunities for Kitchen Assistants to join our Central Production Kitchen, based in North Petherton, Bridgwater.  This kitchen is our main hub of activity, where the thousands of meals we serve across our client sites are prepped and delivered from daily.  From baking hundreds of cupcakes ready to sell in our coffee shops, to batch cooking delicious curries and a whole lot more, it all happens here.  We take pride in our food production, so we guarantee everyone receives professional training and support to ensure our standards of hygiene, quality and presentation are always high, especially when working in such a fast-paced environment.

Key tasks & Responsibilities

You’ll be assisting the Chefs and Chef Supervisors with basic food preparation and production, including our breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings.  We also receive several deliveries a week of frozen goods, cupboard essentials, fresh fruit and vegetables and fresh meat.  Therefore, you’ll be taught how to assist in the receiving and storing of all goods in a safe and hygienic manner to keep our production running smoothly.

Like any kitchen, we also have to keep all our equipment clean and safe for use, so you might spend some time prepping food or receiving deliveries, and then you might rotate over to our pot-wash station, where we use state of the art, industrial-sized dishwashers to keep everything in working order.

As you will be helping to prepare food to be despatched out daily, this role will need a degree of flexibility in shift patterns, with some shifts starting as early as 5.30am and occasional Sundays included.  There is a lot of scope for development in this role, and we will give you the opportunity to progress your career with us.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification (or able to achieve on appointment)
  • Relevant culinary skills gained in a similar environment
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • The ability to manage and prioritise your workload
  • A flexible approach to work and a can-do attitude
