Full Time: 39 hours per week on a variable shift pattern
Salary: First three months: £28,468 per annum (uplifted to £35,585 per annum for nightshift). Upon successful completion of probation, salary increases to £29,688 (uplifted to £37,110 per annum for nightshift).

Due to our rapid growth, we have several opportunities for Chefs to join our campus team on our Hinkley Point C contract, based primarily at the HPC site. To learn more about our partnership with Hinkley Point C, please click here.
Hinkley Point C is a large scale construction project, with thousands of employees clocking in and out every day and night. It’s also high security, meaning you’ll get an extra hour of pay each day when you take the private HPC coach to and from the site. Our Catering team work hard and take pride in what they do, creating thousands of meals a day using fresh produce prepared and delivered daily from our Central Production Kitchen in North Petherton. From our Kitchen Assistants to our Chef Managers – everyone receives professional training and support to ensure our standards of hygiene, quality and presentation are always high, especially when working in such a fast-paced environment.
Key Tasks & Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Night Manager, you will take pride in ensuring the food we make to order is produced to a high standard of quality. This is varied and creative role, so you will also assist in planning our menus and food provision, taking into account any allergen constraints or equipment availability.
You will work with us in our goal to be a more environmentally sustainable business, ensuring any write offs are within our agreed limits, and you’ll have the opportunity to be involved in the development of any new products or packaging that help us to minimise waste.
This role is an opportunity to join an environment that is ever changing; we have flexible shift options, and we believe in supporting our colleagues across the business. Therefore, you’ll also have the chance to work at our Hinkley and Sedgemoor campus facilities and our Central Production Kitchen whenever those teams need a hand, and in turn, grow your own experience and skills.
Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- City & Guilds 706/1 & 2, NVQ Level 2 or Commis Chef Level 2
- Demonstrable chef experience, working with a variety of menus
- A conscientious attitude towards your work
- Knowledge of food safety management/HAACP systems operation
- The ability to work well against time pressures or in demanding situations
- A helpful and supportive approach to teamwork
