Job Description

Operations

  • Carry out all a range of the bar activities under the direction of the Bar Manager, Front of House Manager and Campus Operations management
  • Ensure all bar service provision is carried out in accordance with all aspects of the Somerset Larder Food Safety & Quality Management System and any relevant legal requirements
  • Serve food and beverage at additional functions as required by key customers.
  • Ensure that all service facilities and all equipment are cleaned in accordance with the prescribed method and to the correct schedule

Team Leadership/Supervision

  • Organise and / or carry out all service staff training.
  • Manage and submit the monthly staff roster to ensure seamless and relentless supply to customer/client
  • Complete and draft 1st line appraisals and quarterly review of staff performance – implement continuous improvement plans based on appraisals, Somerset Larder Values and the behaviours framework
  • Manage customer complaints, refusals and safe behaviours in the bar in accordance with company policies and procedures, and HPC code of conduct

Health, Safety, Environmental and Service

  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with the relevant H&S legislation and Codes of Practice, together with any specific company requirements of key customers
  • Organise the ordering of all raw materials, packaging, consumables, and cleaning chemicals as and when required
  • Advise relevant managers of all planned maintenance required or carried out and any repairs following unplanned breakdowns
  • Following the receipt of any customer complaints, assist in investigation of the cause and recommend/implement appropriate corrective action. Work with managers to complete a trend analysis of customer complaints
  • Drive and support Zero Harm Culture.

Qualifications

  • Food Safety 2 within 30 days of starting work
  • Personal License Holder (Desirable)
  • Food Safety 3 within 1 year of joining (Desirable)
  • COSHH trained (Desirable)
  • Allergens trained (Desirable)
  • Level 2 H & S Qualification (Desirable)
  • First Aid Certificate (Desirable)

Skills/Knowledge/Experience Required: 

Essential

  • HPC clearance including Health & Safety qualification and HPC induction
  • A clear verbal and written communicator
  • Great customer service approach
  • Able to respond to changing circumstances and situations
  • Able to identify and minimise wasteful practices

Desirable

  • Numerate
  • Confident with stock rotation and cash management
  • Knowledgeable about allergens
  • Experience with Line Cleaning
  • Experienced supervisor experience
  • Able to up-sell and encourage further purchases by customers
  • Committed to zero harm

Successful applicants will be required to provide a three-year employment history and five-year address history in order to work on Hinkley Point C. They must be able to provide in date photographic ID and their right to work in the UK so that security clearance can be obtained as these roles are based on a nuclear regulated site.
