Full Time: 39 hours per week on a variable shift pattern

Salary: £23,974 per annum, with salary enhancements for weekend work

Due to our growth, we have an exciting opportunity for a Catering Supervisor to join our Front of House team on our Hinkley Point C contract, based primarily at the HPC site.  To learn more about our partnership with Hinkley Point C, please click here.

Hinkley Point C is a large-scale construction project, with thousands of employees clocking in and out every day.  It’s also high security, meaning you’ll get an extra hour of pay each day when you take the private HPC bus to and from the site.  Our team work hard and take pride in what they do, creating thousands of meals a day using fresh produce prepared and delivered daily from our Central Production Kitchen in North Petherton.  From our Kitchen Assistants to our Chef Managers – everyone receives professional training and support to ensure our standards of hygiene, quality and presentation are always high, especially when working in such a fast-paced environment.

Key tasks & Responsibilities

Reporting to the Unit Manager, you will lead, motivate and supervise a team of General Catering Assistants on our nightshift. This is a varied role, with your supervision skills covering our serveries, retail shops and coffee outlets.

As someone who takes pride in their work, you will act as a role model for those in your team, by having high expectations of the customer service level provided by yourself and the General Catering Assistants.   Health and Safety is incredibly important to us, so you’ll ensure all food is handled in line with the standards in our Food Safety & Quality Management System.  As such, you’ll also need to act as a HACCP team member at times.

Alongside the supervision of work activities, you’ll also use your team leadership skills to participate in staff appraisals, development and the recruitment of new staff.

Our ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • Food safety Level 2 (or able to achieve on appointment)
  • Leadership skills with the ability to motivate and coach others
  • A systematic approach to working efficiently
  • Resilience and the ability to work well in demanding or time-sensitive situations
  • Health & safety level 2 qualification is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of working within a large-scale catering service is desirable but not essential
  • Experience of MS Office and EPOS is desirable but not essential
