South West Larder, a Somerset Business Award winner, is growing. We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Bars Manager to join our team and to make a mark within the rapidly growing business.

The main purpose of the role is to lead and manage all operations of all Campus bars, supporting and guiding the team for the highest attainable standards in the provision of excellent facilities, product/brand quality and customer service and hospitality, whilst implementing and managing agreed strategic initiatives to achieve operational effectiveness, business objectives and maximise business revenue and profit.

Annual Salary: From £36,000 per annum

Reporting to the Campus Food & Beverage Operations Manager, leading and managing all staff with a supportive and motivational approach, ensuring staff work effectively, professionally and in line with South West Larder values and behaviour expectations through; 

Operations

  1. Lead and co-ordinate services throughout all bar and events
  2. Ensure planning delivers to customer’s requirements and agreed quality standards
  3. Accountability for the attainment of KPIs in line with the Strategic Aims and Business Objectives
  4. Produce periodic budgetary reports
  5. Expenditure and income monitoring in line with agreed budgets
  6. Oversee the management of stock control and purchasing of goods
  7. Health & Safety leadership
  8. Oversee licensable activities relating to the trading of alcohol

Strategic

  1. Strategic planning and implementation
  2. Operational improvement/development
  3. Establish proactive relationships with stakeholder for continuous development and improvement of operations and services

Development

  1. Maintain a ‘continuous improvement’ ethos for the service across the bars
  2. Policy development & implementation
  3. Training & development plans
  4. Staff skill and standard monitoring

Qualifications  

Essential 

  • APLH Certificate
  • Personal Licence Holder
  • Food Safety Level 2

 Desirable 

  • Health & Safety Level 2
  • Full, UK driving licence 

Skills

Essential 

  • Have good organisational skills 
  • Sound verbal and written communicator including influencing, persuasion and partnership working skills
  • Be adaptable and flexible to changing working methods or practices 
  • Able to train staff on relevant skills and fill knowledge gaps

Desirable

  • A good working knowledge of H&S regulations in the sector

Experience 

Essential 

  • Hospitality service and management skills gained in a similar environment/size/scope 
  • Demonstrable professional skills and knowledge gained through relevant industry experience
  • Understands financial information and uses this to effectively manage the Bar operations(e.g. cost control, budgets, stock)
  • Be experienced at working under pressure, against timeline and with information that changes 
  • Have experience of people management
